William "Bill" Otis Walden

William "Bill" Walden, 89, of Olney, IL, passed away July 28, 2025 in Olney, IL.

He was born July 12, 1936 in Parkersburg, IL to parents, Otis Walden and Ruth (Lynch) Walden. He married Ruby J. (Cook) Walden on June 15, 1957 in Parkersburg, IL.

Bill graduated from Parkersburg Grade School and then graduated from Olney High School in 1954. He then worked for Illini Builders and went on to work at AMF as a die setter.

Bill was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney for 68 years. He was active in volunteering for his church and drove the van that picked up members for nearly 40 years.

He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and growing a large garden. He especially enjoyed traveling and camping with his family and later in life he would take long trips with his wife, Ruby, on their motorcycle. They were both members of the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA).

Bill took pleasure in square dancing and was an active member of the Olney Squarenaders. After retiring he and his wife wintered in Texas for 20 years. He enjoyed socializing with his community of friends that met for coffee, went to dinner, and played cards and games.

Bill is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Walden of Olney; daughter, Terri (Dave) Shafer of Olney; son, Mike (Beth) Walden of Milton, FL; son, Jeff (Sheryl) Walden of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; son, Brad (Sharon Banks) Walden of Vincennes, IN; grandchildren, Kyle Shafer of Marion, IL, Ryan Walden of Chino, CA, and Megan (Patrick Schmidt) Walden of Topeka, KS; and soon to be great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Winnie (Don) Howard; brother, Leslie (Naoma) Walden; and nephew, Ed Howard.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney.

Interment will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Parkersburg, IL.
