Tong Hui Johnson was born in Kyonggi-do, Korea June 7, 1943 to Yun, Chol Pyong and Cho, Nam Chae. Tong married John Johnson on October 10, 1969 in Seoul, Korea. She was a homemaker. Knitting and crocheting were her hobbies. She was an exceptionally wonderful woman and loved by everyone that met her. Tong’s shy smile and subtle sense of humor brightened the lives of all who knew her. Her family and many friends appreciated her gentleness, generosity, and thoughtfulness. Tong’s courage and character were developed early. In 1951 she was eight years old. Her family fled before the Communist invasion from near Seoul to the south-most tip of Korea. She carried her baby brother on her back throughout that winter. It was love at first sight between Tong and John. The decision to marry was made soon after meeting and that marriage brought more than forty-two years of happiness. Tong is survived by her loving husband, John Robert Johnson, mother-in-law Frances Johnson, sister-in-law Linda Zellars, nieces Tammy Patrick and Mary Lay, and many grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and father-in-law, Robert Johnson.
