Steven Rodgers, 71, of Olney, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at his home.
Steve was born November 20, 1952 in Robinson, Illinois, the son of John William and Mary (Knoblett) Rodgers.
Steve had a passion for music and played guitar for the band, Lost Highway, from 1991-1995. After graduating from Lincoln Trail College with an associate’s degree in science, he worked as an evening manager at the Music Staff in Robinson, IL for 12 years and taught guitar. Throughout all his years playing and teaching music his greatest memories were instructing the students and watching them develop. Steve worked at Richland County High School for the past few years and enjoyed sharing his love of music with the students and faculty. He valued the relationships he made working at the school.
Steve was also a member of the Olney Free Methodist Church.
Steve is survived by his longtime companion, Virginia Jones of Olney; daughter, Jessica (Spud) Ault of Flat Rock, IL; daughter, Stephanie Tucker of Robinson, IL; grandchildren, Josey Ault and Macie (Dakota) Littlejohn; sister, Kathy (Don) Richart of Robinson; brother, Gregory (Kelly) Rodgers of Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joshua Rodgers; parents; brother, Michael Rodgers; nephews, Jeffrey Rodgers.
A funeral service will be held for Steven at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a time for visitation beginning one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
Interment will follow the service at Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, IL.
