Sandra Sue (Clark) Hosselton was born October 21, 1941 in Flora, IL to parents, Lewis Clark and Mary Ellen (Staser) Clark. She married Clyde Hosselton in August of 1997.

Sandra was a 1959 graduate of Clay City High School.

Sandra had many talents and wore many hats in her lifetime. When she was in high school, she was often pulled from her classes to help teach if a teacher was absent. She learned to sew and cook at a young age, taught by her mother, Mary, who made all their clothes and later her grandkid’s clothes. After graduating, Sandra married and started her family, and she was hired at Olney Central College as their Ceramic teacher, shortly after, she opened her first business. Sandra's House of Ceramics came to life in their old dairy barn in the country of Sailor Springs. Women from all around would drive to the farm to take her classes. In the mid 70`s her and her husband bought the old Murvin's Dept Store and brought new fashions and fun to the old store. Sandra was known as the Ceramic Lady, the Jewelry Lady, the Shaklee Lady, the Bra Lady, and the Flower Lady. Flower's and more by Sandra was her final swan song before retirement. Sandra was also known for her wedding planning, class reunion organizing, painting, wallpapering and interior decorating. She always said she was a Jack of all Trades and Master of none.

After retirement she was ready to start a new chapter in her book of life, and in August of 1997 she married Clarence “Clyde” Hosselton in a small blue jean wedding in Mission Texas, with the late Don and Glenda Erwin as their witnesses. Together they have shared almost 30 years of fun and adventure, traveling all over the U.S.in their RV. They were known as “Bonnie and Clyde” always ready at the drop of a hat to take off for parts unknown. Spending winters in their Texas home, and summers back in Illinois with their families. It was always exciting to see that RV parked in the driveway in Clay City.

The last few years with her memory slipping, her kids and her husband made it their mission to take care of her at home in familiar surroundings. It couldn't have been done though, without the help of some of the best caregivers around. They are truly God's Blessings. It has been an emotional ride, but one we would absolutely do again.

Sandra was a funny, classy, talented woman. She loved to dance, shop, sew, quilt, weave, paint, decorate, travel, you name it, she could do it, and she loved spending time with her sister Joann doing most of these things. They were 2 peas in a pod… She loved her kids and grandkids unconditionally. You could always count on her...

We will miss everything about her, especially her wink. It made you feel like you were in on a little secret. Just you and her.

We want to thank her girls who cared for her, Sherry, Mel, Des, Janice and her other Visiting Angels, and Sophie, Lynn and Kendal. We are forever grateful for your love and compassion you all gave to our mom. Emily Landreth for always making our “hair days” so fun and coming to her home when she was no longer able to make the trip to your shop.

Sandra is survived by her husband Clyde Hosselton of Clay City; children, Rodney (Collette) Franklin, Jennifer (David) Smith, Douglas Franklin, Jessica (Russ) Ethridge, and step-son, Loy (Tammy) Hosselton; grandchildren, Jordan (Josh) Kessler, Cody (Kelsy) Smith, Rodney (Dawn) Franklin, Blake Franklin, Brooke (Alex) Carr, Boden Franklin, Jerrin Ethridge, Maggie (Kaedyn) Gillman, Casey (Hallie) Clagg, Aaron Hosselton, Jesse Hosselton, and Eli Hosselton; great grandchildren, Marli and Mila Franklin, Phoebe, Sy and Asa Smith, Georgia Carr, and Lucas, Bristol and Cade Clagg; sister, JoAnn Tharp of Sun City, AZ; brother, Gary Clark of Clay City; brother-in-law, Curt (Donna) Hosselton; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and lifetime friends, Trevor and Doris Bissey, and Earlene Henry.

Preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Don Tharp, Cletis Hosselton, and Carrol Hosselton; sisters-in-law, Suzie Clark, Beverly Clark, and Carrie Ann Gill.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City has been entrusted with arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City.

Interment will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Zif Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Alzheimer's Association or Clay County Hospice.
