Roger Dean May

Roger Dean May, 85, of Olney, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Helia Healthcare of Olney.

Roger was born August 4, 1939 in Decatur, IL, the son of Oscar and B. Alice (Williams) May. He married Darlene June (Gifford) May on June 22, 1958, and she preceded him in death on December 14, 2014.

Roger grew up in Decatur, IL, and later relocated to Olney and worked at Kralis Brothers until they closed, after which he worked at the Olney Daily Mail. You could see him driving a yellow truck while he delivered the paper to the local businesses in Olney. During this time, Roger socialized with everybody and never knew a stranger. When he wasn't working, Roger was always tinkering with numerous projects. He loved his family whole-heartedly, and he enjoyed attending family gatherings and sporting events. Most of all, Roger's greatest love was the Lord, and he led by example.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Deana May Wease of Newton; son, Darren May and wife Tracy of Dundas; daughter, Sheri Johnson and husband Rodney of Olney; Son-in-law, Johnny Pflaum; 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter, Angela Pflaum, granddaughter, Adrianne May; siblings, Jack May, Albert "Bud" May, Sheldon "Cork" May, and his infant sister, Shirley May.

A funeral service will be held for Roger at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one hour before service time at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens in Olney.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.
