Robert L. "Bob" Phillips

Robert L "Bob" Phillips, 84, of Claremont, passed away July 23, 2024 at Carle RMH ER, Olney, IL.

Bob was born September 14, 1939 in Claremont, IL to Howard and Cora Skjeveland Phillips. He married Karen Doan on May 12, 1961.

For over 60 years, Bob was a mechanic. He worked at several places throughout the years before opening his own business, Phillips’ Brothers Auto Repair, with his beloved brother Bill. At the age of 27, he started Bob & the Country Boys. He loved playing music with the boys. They played many wedding dances throughout their music career. In retirement, Bob had a passion for hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed.

Bob is survived by his wife Karen and five children: Tracy (Dutch) Mehl, Debbie (Rob) Rucker, Peggy (Jim) Strange, Gary Phillips, and Bobbi (Don) Geltz. Eleven grandchildren: Jami (Josh) Mills, Matt (Stephani) Mehl, Kurtis (Taylor) Mehl, Samantha Rucker, Marc Rucker, Meghan Strange, Dylan (Sara) Strange, Ben (Ladi) Phillips, Brent Phillips, Carly Geltz (Logan Miller-fiancé), and Kelsi Geltz. Eleven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and four siblings: Bernard Phillips, Colleen McCleave, Doris Nowling, and Shirley Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Dale, Harold, Red, and Bill Phillips, Bernice Holtz, and one great grandson, Mason.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Claremont Ruritan Building from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
