Richard Michael Dallmier

January 17, 1938 — September 27, 2024

Richard M. "Dick" Dallmier, 86, passed away on September 27, 2024, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Dick was born on January 17, 1938 in Jasper County, IL, to Edwin and Julia (Kerner) Dallmier. He married his high school sweetheart, Glenda (Woods) Dallmier, on February 15, 1958. Together they had three children, Tony, Kevin, and Denise, and enjoyed 51 years of marriage.

He graduated from Newton Community High School in 1956, served in the US Army, and continued in the Army Reserves during the early years of his career in the oilfield. Over time, the company's name changed (Lane Wells, Dresser Atlas, Baker Atlas), but one thing did not--his dedicated service. Dick had a distinguished 46 year career with the company before retiring in 2003. He started as a draftsman, earned the designation of petroleum engineer, and worked his way up to Region Manager. Not one to sit still, Dick worked part time at Eagleson Automotive and Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home for many additional years.

Dick's hobby was his family, and he also enjoyed gardening and ballroom dancing. After Glenda's passing in 2009, he married Carrie Louise (Meritt) Dallmier, a dear friend they had met through dancing, on July 23, 2011. She was a loving wife and companion to Dick for the remainder of his life.

He is survived by his wife Louise of Olney, IL, son Kevin Dallmier and his wife Lisa of Menlo, GA, daughter Denise Dallmier Burger and her husband Dustin of Monticello, IL, and grandchildren, Caroline Bennett-Sippel and her husband Andy, Tom Dallmier, Kali Dallmier, Bethany Burger, Jayna Burger and her fiance Jacob Boss, and Lydia Burger. He is also survived by sister Madonna (Dallmier) Schneider, twin brother Don Dallmier and wife Shirley, numerous beloved nieces and nephews, as well as stepson Bob Meritt and his wife Teresa, stepson-in-law Brian Kurr, five step grandchildren, and 11 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Glenda, son Tony, brothers Eugene, Lorraine, and George, sister Marietta, and stepdaughter Jan (Meritt) Kurr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, from noon-2:00 PM, Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 PM, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Olney. Graveside services to follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Newton, IL. Memorial donations can be made in Dick's name to St. Joseph Foundation Trust.
