Phyllis Lucille Mckinney

Phyllis McKinney was born November, 13, 1940 as Phyllis Lucille Chase in Whitman, Mass to Ralph Sr. (1907-1962) and Ruth (nee Borne)(1909-2007) Chase. Phyllis resided in Whitman until she married Sydney McShane in 1961. They both lived about 2 years in Mass. and then moved to NJ. They resided in NJ for about two years before moving to Passport, PA where she and her husband went to seminary for two years. By this time she had two daughters, Caroline Ruth and Cathie Lucille. Phyllis then moved to Phoenix, AZ and lived for a number of years and had two more children; Michelle Marie and Cheryl Lynn. Cheryl graduated high school in 1992 from E.R.H.S. in Olney, IL. Cheryl also completed two years of college at OCC and then completed two more years at Eastern in Charleston, IL. Phyllis played the piano and/or organ in different churches in the Phoenix area. The marriage of Phyllis and Sydney ended in divorce in the late 1970’s. Phyllis then met Les McKinney at Sweetwater Church in Phoenix, AZ in May of 1984. They were married Dec. 23,1986 in the United Methodist Church in Parkersburg, IL. She then moved and lived in Parkersburg and has lived there ever since. Phyllis drove a tractor-trailer with her husband for about two years. She had to stop due to medical reasons. She bought a café and named it "Town Café" in Parkersburg, IL. She operated the cafe for a few years. In 1998 she went back trucking again with Les for a few years. Phyllis worked cleaning houses for a while off and on. Phyllis played piano and/or organ in churches in this area. For the last few years she played at the 8:45 a.m. service at the United Methodist Church in Parkersburg, IL and then at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Olney, IL. In July 2006 she was diagnosed with cancer and received chemo and radiation treatments until Nov. 2011. She was then released into Hospice care on Nov.15, 2011. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 25 years, Les McKinney, and her daughter, Caroline Randolph and husband Robert and daughter Haley; daughter Cathie McShane; daughter Michelle McKinney with husband J. Dwayne and son, Tyler; daughter Cheryl Greene with husband Dan and their two daughters, Elizabeth and Rebecca; a step-daughter, Darlene Phillips with husband Gary and son, Chase Lee. Phyllis is also survived by her sister Gloria (Chase) Drisco of Phoenix, AZ. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Brother Ralph Lester Chase Jr. (1930-2011)
