Peggy Jane (Davis) Scott, Wooden, 89, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Helia Healthcare of Olney.


Peggy owned and operated the Wynoose Grocery and was proudly known as the "Wynoose Grouch".


Peggy was born December 30, 1935, the daughter of Theodore and Bessie (Smith) Davis. She married Jack Scott on April 9, 1952 in Richland County, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 2000. She later married Charlie Wooden in 2009 at Glenwood Church in Noble, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2015.


Peggy is survived by her daughters, Linda (Wayne) Williams and Beverly (Harold) Weidner, both of Noble; grandchildren, Daniel (Tammy) Williams, Ami (Mark) Smithenry, Jack (Kerrie) Weidner, and Emily (Lucas) Patridge; grandson-in-law, Ron Wilke; great grandchildren, Garrett (Gabriella) and Gavin Williams, Amanda and Travis Wilke, Devan Coulter, Jared and Levi Weidner, and Aubrey Patridge; great-great grandson, Daegon Coulter; siblings, Margie Wilson, Juanita Schwartzlose, Jerry Davis, Susan Fisher, Ted Davis, Yvonne Winters, and Mark Davis; good friends, Tim and Roberta Bursott and their children, Ashley Ochs and Courtney Meadows and very special friend, Larry Galloway, and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, granddaughter, Shelley Wilke, brother, Jim Davis and sister, Jo Ann Huffman.


Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.


Cremation Rites will be accorded, and interment will be at Forrest Ridge Cemetery in rural Wynoose at a later date.
