Melinda Sue Hunt, 72, of Olney, passed away on Monday July 29, 2024 at her home.
Melinda was born April 3, 1952 in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Melissa (Allen) Adams. She married Joe Frank Hunt, Jr. on July 30, 1972, and he preceded her in death on September 1, 2021.
Mel graduated from Palestine High School and attended OCC, where she met her husband of 49 years, Joe Hunt, Jr. Mel worked as an office manager for the East Richland Co. District Office and also was an administrative assistant to the Assistant Superintendent. Mel was part of the Richland County Board, RMH Hospital Board, Daughters of The Nile, Al Sihah Temple No. 29, Auxiliary VFW Post #4226, Beta Sigma Phi Women’s Sorority, and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was an avid supporter of the Richland County Fair and 4H as well as Shriners and Shriners Hospital for Children.
Mel had a love for cooking and entertaining. One of her greatest passions was supporting her family in all of their activities and attending all their events. Hunt III of Olney and Clifford "CP" Hunt and his wife Courtney of Olney; grandchildren, Izzy Mae Hunt, Maggie Jo Hunt, Joe Frank Hunt IV, Augusta Kathryn Hunt, and Bernadette Jean Hunt; brothers, Ronald (Amanda) Adams of Oblong, Clifford (Linda) Adams of Palestine, and Lee (Pam) Adams of Elkhart, IN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
