Mary "Ruth" Matheny

Mary "Ruth" Matheny, 81, of Olney, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Ruth was born July 1, 1943 in Sainte Marie, Illinois, the daughter of Paul Hartrich and Clara (McKimmy) Hartrich. She married Donald Matheny on December 26, 1964 in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, and he survives.

Ruth worked as a business analyst at State Farm Insurance for over 30 years until her retirement. Ruth was a big Illinois sports fan. She loved golf and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ruth was a loving wife, sister, and aunt. Ruth was well loved, and she will be missed by her many friends, family, and acquaintances.

Ruth is survived by her husband Don Matheny of Olney; siblings, Carolyn Hartrich of Olney; Vincent Hartrich of Downs, IL; Bill Hartrich of Ste. Marie, IL; Rick Hartrich and wife Marilyn of Olney; Theodore Hartrich and wife Susan of Robinson, IL; and Jim Hartrich and wife Debra of Morton, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Nancy Deeter, and her brother, Keith Hartrich.

Visitation will be held for friends and family from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, followed by a Memorial Mass at the church.

Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that memorials in Ruth's honor be made to St. Joseph School Foundation Trust.
