Marjorie Mayo Cralle Poorman

Marjorie Mayo Cralle Poorman passed away peacefully on Dec 2, 2011 at the age of 105. She was born on September 19, 1906 at Gards Point IL, the oldest of six girls. She married Arthur Ray Poorman in March 1928, in Olney IL. She is the mother of Mary Jean Feldmann of Utah, and Arthur Ray Jr (Skip) Poorman deceased. Marjorie has four grandsons, Michael Feldmann (Brenda) and Keith Feldmann (Robyn) of Utah, Steve Poorman (Mary Beth) of Warden IL, and Kenneth Poorman (Mary) of Florissant, MO. She has eight great grandchildren: Jennifer Andrews, Stacy Jewkes, Bryan Feldmann, and Kimberly Feldmann of Utah, Brandon Poorman, and Alyssa Poorman of Warden, IL, and Elaina Kroll of O’Fallon, MO. She was the great great grandmother of eight: Tate Jewkes, Gracie Jewkes, Jacob Jewkes, Landon Feldmann, Reagan Feldmann, Andrew Moger, Ireland Andrews and one on the way, all of Utah, and Lucas Kroll of O’Fallon, MO. Two sisters, Betty Sterchi and Norma Wheat, both of Olney, daughter-in-law, Laura Poorman of Florissant, MO, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, Son Skip, son-in-law Bill Feldmann, sisters Geneva Wenk, Eloise Harmon, and Virginia Stevens, nephews Ronnie Wenk and Gary Stevens. Marjorie graduated from high school in Olney, and worked at the telephone company until she was married. She then moved to St. Louis, MO, where she worked until retiring in the telephone order department for Famous Barr. After retirement she and Arthur moved to Noble, IL where they opened and ran an antique shop for many years. She belonged to the Heritage House Museum, the Richland County Historical Society and the Genealogy Society. She sent cards and letters to everyone she knew, loved to read and do genealogy, collect antiques, and travel. She wrote her life story from 1988 until 1990. She was an optimist and believed everything happened for a reason. She was proud of her family and loved all of her grandkids.She was an amazing lady, and loved life.Mom lived at Burgin Manor in Olney since 2002. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses, with special thanks to Una Turpley, Linda and Mary at Burgins for her wonderful care, and all the many friends who visited her over the years. Marjorie was a life long member of Elm Street Christian Church. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elm Street Christian Church Building Fund, 727 E. Elm St., Olney, IL, 62450.
