Mabel Agnes Gillen

October 15, 1907 — July 22, 2011

Mabel was born October 15, 1907 in Glenwood, Brushville area west of Noble, IL. She was the daughter of James & Ida (Dixon) Patterson. She quit school at fifteen years old due to poor health of her father. She joined her sister Mildred at the International Shoe Company to help the family. She married Lowell Gillen in Olney in 1924. She & her husband worked at the shoe factory till 1942 when they moved to Chicago where she was an operator for Bell Telephone. She and her husband Lowell retired in 1968 and returned to Olney and spent 14 years in Florida in the winter months. Her husband passed away November 10, 1990. Mabel lived eight years at Brookstone Estates in Olney and three years at RMH Long Term Care. She is survived by 18 nieces & nephews and two sisters-in-law, Lois Patterson of Olney and Marilyn Jourdan of Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Kenny, James Ervon Patterson, sisters Mildred Hough, Eliza Weiss, Elsie Michels, Frankie Deimel & Mary Clark and five nephews. The family would like to thank Brookstone Estates and RMH Long Term Care for the love and care they have given our Aunt.
