Loren "Mick" Simen

Loren Simen, 82, of Olney, IL, passed away October 5, 2024 in Olney, IL.

Loren Simen was born September 2, 1942 in Olney, IL to parents, Ray Simen and Opal Freida Burns (Luthe). He married Nona (Thomason) Simen and Nona preceded him in death on June 28, 2020.

Throughout his lifetime, Mick found joy in the simple pleasures of life; playing golf, fishing, bowling, shooting pool, playing cards at the Olney Elks Lodge, and engaging in conversations at the local coffee shop on weekends.

Mick's professional journey was deeply rooted in the automotive industry. Starting out at Phillips-Francis, which later became McKinney-Robinson, which later became Burger Chrysler, which he retired from. Retirement didn't last long before he started working for Terry Schrey. He worked for Terry until he could no longer get around so well.

Loren's presence brought light to the lives of many. His friendly demeanor and genuine interest in others endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Mick is survived by step-son, Terry Stevens of Olney; grandchildren, Brittany Thompson, Brooke Cales, and Brandy Murbarger; several great grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Alex Stevens and Hailey Stevens; sister, Shirley (Rex) Joan Derrow of Auburn, IN and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents; wife, Nona Simen; daughter, Tina Allen; sisters, Marilyn Anderson, and Gladys Scherer; brothers, Leon Leroy "Jack" Simen, Robert Allen "Bob" Simen, and Albert Lee "Joe" Simen.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements.

A Graveside Funeral Service for Loren “Mick” Simen will be held on Wednesday, Oct 9th, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Richland County, IL.
