Linda L. Reckling

Linda L. Reckling, 80, of Olney, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Brookstone Estates in Olney.

Linda was born April 8, 1945 to parents Albert Grant and Dorothy (Eskew) Grant. She married Herbert E. Reckling, Jr. on February 4, 1972 in Edwards County, IL, and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2022.

Linda enjoyed missionary work alongside her husband, traveling to countries like Guatemala, Haiti, and Nicaragua. They took pride in knowing that they helped young girls from impoverished countries receive an education. They also worked for UMCOR to provide emergency assistance to areas in need.

Linda and her husband raised livestock and worked the fields on their family farm. She enjoyed horse racing and always looked forward to the Fairs to attend the horse races and to visit with other fans.

Linda took pleasure in visiting with family and friends and enjoyed her flowers and bird watching.

Linda is survived by her step-daughter, Kim Swinson and husband Pete; step-daughter, Kelli Kuhring and husband Kenny; step-son, Jay Reckling and wife Jackie; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her beloved cat, Randall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Reckling; parents; and step-son, Eric Reckling.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.

A memorial service will be held for Linda on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at West Salem Zion Church in West Salem, IL, with a visitation for friends and family beginning one hour before service time at the church.

Burial will be at a later date.
