Laryus L. "Larry" Benson Jr.

Laryus L. "Larry" Benson Jr., 86, of Noble, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Richland Nursing & Rehab.

Larry was born November 28, 1937 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Laryus L. and Lois (Howard) Benson Sr. He married Erma Taylor on November 15, 1962 in Olney, and she survives.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany for much of his duty. After his time in the military, he worked various jobs, spending most of his years in the oil field. In his retirement years, he ran a small lawn mower repair business out of his garage and took care of the neighbors and friends.

Larry will be remembered by many as a faithful Christian, a good friend and wonderful father.

Larry is survived by his wife, Erma, of nearly 62 years; three children, Lisa (Bryan) Bergbower, Sam (Lisa) Benson, and Chad Benson; six grandchildren, Haley (Brian) Miller, Kyle (Sarah) Bergbower, Taylor (Sam) Hahn, Ivy (Taylor) Schmidt, Mallory Benson, and Mark Benson; seven great grandchildren, Chlora, Vica, Emma, and Magdalena Bergbower, Joel and Jonah Miller, Greer Schmidt; brother, Bob VanBuskirk, and his special feline buddy, Blue.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Benson Sr. and stepmother, Waneta Benson, his mother, Lois VanBuskirk and stepfather, Jim VanBuskirk. Father and mother-in-law, Huel and Wilhelmine Taylor, sister, Lorie Fusco and sister-in-law, Lucy VanBuskirk, sister-in-law, Pauline Drewes and brother-in-law, Lloyd Taylor.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is assisting the family with a Graveside Service at Wells Cemetery in rural Wayne County on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM.
