Kathleen Vaughn

Kathleen Vaughn, 75, of Olney, IL, passed away on Friday February 14, 2025 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney after a long illness.

Kathleen was born on August 11, 1949 in Olney, IL, the daughter of Charles "Bob" Vaughn and Elizabeth "Liffet" (Gassmann) Vaughn.

Kathleen was “#4" of nine siblings and loved being from a large family. She was passionate and fierce in always making sure everyone around her was loved and cared for. She had the gift to care for those in need, and she loved children. Kathleen was also a proud alumni of ERHS class of '67, Webster University, and Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Her distinct laugh, storytelling ability, and big heart will be missed.

Kathleen is survived by her only daughter, Molly Vaughn of Olney; siblings, Ann (Michael) Cravens of Tucson, AZ, Carol Schafer of Palos Heights, IL, Charles Bradley (Karen) Vaughn of Olney, Allen Vaughn of Olney, Ray (Marcia) Vaughn of Olney, and Frank Vaughn of San Francisco, CA; aunt Trudy Reynolds of Tulsa, OK and uncle Frank Gassmann of Olney, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dozens of cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Gertrude Newcomb, and brother, John Vaughn, who died on October 20, 2023 in Springfield, IL.

A shared memorial service will be held for Kathleen and her brother John at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation for friends and family beginning one hour before service time at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at St. Joseph Cemetery in Olney.
