Karen Sue Smith, 66, of Olney, IL, passed away July 27, 2025 at her residence in Olney, IL.
Karen Smith was born on September 7, 1958 in Calhoun, IL to parents, Bobby Reynolds and Mary (McCleave) Reynolds. She married Daniel H. Smith on December 21, 2009, he survives.
Karen worked for many years at IGA as a DSD, she also worked at the VFW and the Eagles as a waitress. She enjoyed 70's music, especially the Eagles and Joe Cocker.
Karen loved animals of all kinds. She was the adopted mother of many stray cats in the neighborhood and enjoyed it when the local wildlife would visit her backyard.
Karen could not pass up a deal and always loved a good sale. She also enjoyed cooking for the family and hosting for the holidays. She was a fan of watching baseball and the Chicago Cubs.
Karen took pleasure in collecting seashells and stargazing with her daughter, Alainna.
Karen deeply cared about people and never met a stranger. She had a great love for her husband, children, daughters-in-law, and grandson, Ben.
Karen is survived by her husband, Daniel Smith of Olney; son, Michael Crew and wife Melissa of Olney; son, Mathew Crew and wife Stacy of Olney; daughter, Alainna Smith of Paris, IL; grandson, Benjamin Crew of Olney; brother, Jim Reynolds of Calhoun; sister, Connie (Greg) Higgason of Olney; brother, Chuck Reynolds of Parkersburg; brother Scott (Michele) Reynolds of Olney; her dog and cat, Tucker and Willow; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as great great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, David Crew; parents, Bobby Leo and Mary Reynolds; and sister-in-law, Roberta Reynolds.
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney.
Interment will take place on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Richland Cemetery in Calhoun, IL.
