Joseph "Aaron" Spieth

Joseph “Aaron” Spieth, 49, of Dundas, Illinois passed away December 5, 2024 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.


Aaron was born May 1, 1975 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Lawrence Joseph Spieth and Karen (Steury) Hulett. He married Kristina Bogart on May 18, 2002, and she survives.


Aaron enlisted in the IL National Guard at the age of 17 and retired after 21 years of service. While in the military he traveled to Italy, Germany, Panama, and did a tour in Iraq. Upon returning home he worked at Pacific Cycle for 23 years as a quality control inspector.


He was a mentor in youth's shooting sports and volunteered his time as a 4-H leader and was a leader in the Boy Scouts. He was also superintendent of the goats barn at the Richland County Fair. Aaron was an active member of the Dundas Ruritan and held positions as the President and was a current Board member as well as a member of the Carrie Winters Trust Board.

He enjoyed target shooting, playing cards, Dungeons and Dragons, and spending time at Borah Lake with his family.

Aaron was a strong-willed person with a quirky personality, his sense of humor and his morals will be remembered for generations.


Aaron has done so much for his country and his community and will continue doing so through the invaluable gift of organ donation. As a result, others will have a better chance at life.


Aaron is survived by his wife, Kristina Spieth of Dundas; son, Alex Souder, son, Logan Spieth; daughter, Makela Spieth (Nathan) Wilson; daughter, Athena Spieth; daughter, Kyra Spieth; mother, Karen Hulett; father, Lawrence Joseph (Cindy) Spieth; brothers, Christopher (Nicole Powden) Steury, Dakoda Hulett, and Austin (Ashley) Hulett; sisters, Melanie Martin (Keith) Blaize; Angel Spieth (Robert Bud) Brown, and Kacie Hulett (Jay) Brown; grandsons, Jack Wilson and Theo Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his bonus mother, Rhonda Spieth and bonus father, Rod Hulett.

A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined.


There will be a Remembrance Ceremony for Aaron on December 28th at the Dundas Ruritan from 1:00-4:00 PM.


Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.
