Garrey A. Holdrieth

Garrey A. Holdrieth, 69, of Olney, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Select Specialty in Evansville, Indiana.

Garrey was born August 29, 1954 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Jack Holdrieth, Sr. and Peggy (Peters) Holdrieth.

Garrey was an LPN for more than 30 years. He loved his career as a nurse and took pride in his work and had an excellent bedside manner. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Garrey enjoyed his family at Fox River Apartments, and he was the current President of the Residents Council, along with having served a previous term. He was a people person and had a very caring and loving heart.

Because of his demeanor, he earned the nickname "Happy" in high school. More than anything Garrey loved his family, and they will miss him immensely.

Garrey was also a member of Olney Southern Baptist Church.

Garrey is survived by his siblings, Jack Holdrieth, Jr. and wife Marcia of Olney, Jay Mewes and wife Denise of Tuttle, OK, and Becky Luther of Evansville, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held for Garrey at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with visitation beginning one hour before service time at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Zion United Methodist Cemetery in West Salem.

Memorials can be made to Fox River Apartments to be used for recreational purposes for the residents (indicate “Activity Fund” in the memo line if making donation by check).
