Ernest "Clifford" Pierce, 97, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 at Axiom Healthcare of Flora, in Flora, Illinois.
Clifford was born on November 10, 1927 in Clay City, Illinois, the son of Russell Pierce and Eunice (Bates) Pierce. He married Emma Mae (Venable) Pierce, on October 4, 1947, and she preceded him in death on February 8, 2018 after 70 years of marriage.
Clifford was a lifelong farmer and had a strong faith in the Lord. He taught Sunday School for many years at Clay City Methodist Church.
Clifford enjoyed tractors, especially International Tractors. He took pleasure in restoring old tractors and taking them to shows.
Clifford was always very friendly and had an infectious smile. He was a fantastic father, grandfather, and great grandfather and loved his family dearly.
Clifford is survived by his daughter, Kathy Obrecht (Stan) of Clay City; grandchildren, Mary Wolfe (Leonard) of Fairfield, IL; Aaron Bryan (Malia) of Wayne City, IL; great grandchildren, Sophia Wolfe, Lauren Wolfe, Pierce Bryan, and Bennett Bryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Wilma Hosselton, Mabel Lynn, and Raymond Pierce.
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City has been entrusted with arrangements.
A funeral service will be held for Clifford at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Clay City, with a visitation beginning one hour before service time at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Clay City Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice.
