Doris Grubb, 94, of Noble, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Carle RMH in Olney, Illinois.
Doris was born June 20, 1929 in Wayne County, Illinois, the daughter of Henry "Hence" and Grace (Banker) Taylor. She married Elmer "Lloyd" Grubb on December 23, 1949, and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2005.
During their early days, Doris assisted Lloyd’s farming by driving tractors, hauling grain, and taking care of a wide variety of livestock for several years until their boys were big enough. As their operation grew and specialized, her role became taking care of the homesite including gardening, canning and baking while continuing to drive the hay baler and haul grain. In her later years, she was active in our local Farmer’s market with her baked goods and vegetables. Her noodles and cinnamon rolls were our favorites.
Doris loved to fish and coaxed Lloyd to build a nice fishing pond right behind their house. She enjoyed pulling the family together for Sunday dinners with all the grandkids. She remained committed to caring for Lloyd at home as long as she could all those years after his aneurysm.
With her energy and caring, she showed us how to be a mother.
Doris is survived by her son, David Grubb and wife Jane of Mt. Erie, IL; son, Larry Grubb of Noble; daughter, Debra Grubb of Olney; son, Roy Grubb of The Villages, FL; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Kuhlig; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Huel, Eugene, and Charles Taylor.
A visitation will be held for friends and family of Doris on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney.
Cremation Rites will be accorded after the services.
