Curtis H. Wendling, 90, of Olney, IL, passed away November 23, 2024 Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Curtis was born February 17, 1934 in Lucas Township, Effingham County, Illinois, the son of August and Clara (Poehler) Wendling. He married Betty L. (Salyers) Wendling, and she preceded him in death.
Curtis Graduated from East Richland High School on June 2, 1952 and enlisted in the United States Army and served from June 21, 1956 - May 30, 1959.
He worked for the United States Postal Service in both Chicago and Olney, IL. He started his career for the USPS on September 21, 1959 and retired February 2, 1996.
Curtis was a member of First Baptist Church of Olney. He was also a lifetime St Louis Cardinal fan and one of the best husband, Father, Grandfather, and great Grandfather you could ever imagine.
He is survived by his children - Michael Isaacs of Farmington, Mo, Sue Isaacs-Jackman (Steve) of Lawrenceville, IL, Dixie Smith (Eric) of Wentzville, MO, Michael Wendling (Briget) of Calhoun, IL, and Heidi Reynolds of Olney, Il; grandchildren, Michele (Richard) Reynolds and Melanie (Randy) Ryker, Jacob (Mariah) Wendling of Olney, IL, Jonah Wendling of Casper, Wyoming, Stephanie Crouch (Michael) of Wentzville, MO, and Jeanette (Dustin) Karrer of St Charles, MO; great grandchildren, Bobby Reynolds of Olney, IL, Dawson Ryker of Jacksonville, FL, and Samantha Crouch of Wentzville MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Clara Wendling; siblings Ralph Wendling, Kenneth Wendling, Marjorie (Wendling) White, Dorothy Wendling; spouse, 1st wife Patsy Jean Wendling (died September 5, 1965) and 2nd wife Phyllis Betty Lee (Salyers) Wendling (Married May 31, 1975 and died January 19, 2012); son, James Isaacs; and son-in-law, Stephen Smith.
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.
A funeral service will be held for Curtis at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, with a visitation beginning one hour before service time at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens.
