Carolyn "Carol" (Iffert) Kilgore

Carolyn “Carol” (Iffert) Kilgore, 81 of Terre Haute, Indiana and formerly from Olney, Illinois died Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Providence Health Care surrounded by family.

Carol was born on February 8, 1943 to Frank and Marcella Iffert. She was raised in Wendelin, Illinois with her three sisters and was a member of Holy Cross Church of Wendelin where she attended elementary and middle school. She was a graduate of Noble High School.

Mrs. Kilgore started her career working in insurance at Witsman Insurance agency. She met her husband, Charles Kilgore, and they married on March 13, 1968 in Elmore, Ohio. They were happily married 47 years until his death. Once married, Carol went to college and obtained an associate’s degree in business at Olney Central College.

She worked many years at H & R Block during tax season. If you asked her today about her favorite job she ever worked, she would say babysitting. She babysat for an extra special group of children and their families that she loved dearly.

Carol volunteered for the Dundas Ruritan and served as board member and secretary for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, Olney Ladies Knights of Columbus, Olney Women of the Moose and Beagle Club. You could always find her cooking a delicious meal, sewing something special, painting a ceramic piece, making the holidays extra special or enjoying family time.

Carol is survived by daughter Linda Kilgore Biggs and husband Jeff; grandchildren Nathan (Erica) Biggs, Brooke (Zach) Biggs; sisters Gerry Carter and Janet Kocker; and special friend Therea Button.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marcella Iffert, husband Charlies Kilgore, sister Judy Clow, and two infant brothers.

The family of Carol Kilgore would like to express their appreciation to Providence Health Care Center at St. Mary-of-the Woods staff for their care and support.

A Visitation for Carol will be held at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, 205 E. Elm St., Olney, Illinois on Friday, October 4, 2024,  from 4:00-6:00 pm with services following. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery.
