Carolyn Sue Anderson

Carolyn Sue Phillips Anderson, 85, of Olney, Illinois passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Stonebridge Memory Care in Olney.

Carolyn was born August 7, 1939 in Olney, IL, the daughter of Carl S. and Betty (Brookhart) Phillips. She met her husband Richard Byron "Dick" Anderson in history class in high school. They married August 17, 1963, and he preceded her in death on February 13, 1991.

Carolyn was a graduate of East Richland High School and Eastern Illinois University, where she earned her Masters Degree in Education.

Carolyn was a high school accounting, business, computer, shorthand, and typing teacher. She taught at Flora High School from 1960-1967 and East Richland High School from 1967-1994. She was an advisor for the newspaper, The Tiger Rag. Carolyn was also a proud Illinois State advisor for Future Business Leaders of America.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Anne E. Anderson of Olney, her sister, Mary Martha (Peter) Johnson of Olney, her sister-in-law, Tressie Anderson of Olney, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick Anderson; sister-in-law, Jean Zerkle, and brothers-in-law, Francis Zerkle, and Frank Anderson.

Carolyn's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers who have helped her at Stonebridge Memory Care, Carle RMH Hospice, and several area hospitals over the last year.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney, IL.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney.

Interment will take place at Haven Hill Cemetery.

Carolyn was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Olney. Please make any memorial donations to Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Stroke Association.
