Arthur J. Tolbert

Arthur J. Tolbert, 93, formerly of Olney, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was born on July 31, 1931, in Louisville, Illinois, to loving parents. Art’s life was one marked by dedication, hard work, and unwavering faith.


After serving in the United States Air Force for four years, Art went on to earn a degree in accounting from the University of Evansville, graduating with cum laude honors. In 1960, he settled in Olney, where he built a successful life as a Certified Public Accountant, running his own CPA firm until 2018. He was known for his diligence, precision, and commitment to his work.


A man of deep faith, Art carried his Bible with him and lived his life in accordance with its teachings. Outside of his professional life, he enjoyed simple pleasures like reading the newspaper, solving daily crossword puzzles, and could often be found at the Olney ballpark watching games. Art was an accomplished pool player and bowler and had a lifelong love of sports, particularly his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.


Art leaves behind his devoted wife, Judy Tolbert, and his three daughters: Kathy (Brad Beabout), Becki (Brian Redman), and Vicki Tolbert. He was also a proud grandfather to Blake & Bree (Kathy) and Jordan (Becki). Additionally, he is survived by his stepdaughters, Cathy (Vince) Ochs and Becky (Kevin) Hahn, and his step-grandchildren: Emily and Brandon (Becky), and Katie and Ryan (Cathy) and eleven great grandchildren.


Arthur’s legacy will live on through his family, his faith, and the many lives he touched throughout his years. He will be remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, and dedication.


A private burial will be held at Dundas Cemetery in Dundas, Illinois.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in his memory to a charity of choice.
