Ruth Ann Webb, 83, of Olney, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at her home.
Ruth was born on December 11, 1939 in Clay City, Illinois, the daughter of Admiral and Bessie Mae (Allwood) Fitzgerald. She married Billy Joe Webb on February 14, 1987 in Union City, Tennessee, and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2015.
Ruth was born and raised in Clay City, where she graduated from Clay City High School. She worked at the Spartan Horn Factory in Flora, Illinois in the 1960s and later at McBride & Shoff in Metamora, Illinois in the 1970s. She worked in nursing for 15 years at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka, Illinois. She took correspondence courses to learn different skills such as flower arranging for events. Ruth also became an ordained minister in 1988. Ruth loved to ride her bike anywhere and everywhere and she loved to drive her car. She was protestant by faith and was a skilled gardener that was well known in her neighborhood. Ruth loved to bake for everyone in her life, and she made fudge and cookies to give away to many. She was skilled at crafting, crocheting, and growing plants, and she won many ribbons at the county fair for her accomplishments. It was one her life's purposes to always go out of her way to help and give to others in need. Ruth was a kind soul, and she will be dearly missed by all of the friends, family, and community members that knew her.
Ruth is survived by her five children; Shelia Ann Clark, Charlene Mae Rippel, Victoria Jean Clark-Klein, Tracy Sue Clark, Johnny Lee Clark; 12 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; one brother, Emery Lee Fitzgerald and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 36 years, Billy Joe Webb; one grandchild, Joseph Edwards; sisters, Gertrude Fry, Velda Mae Zimmerle, and Irma Gene Webb; one nephew, Jeff Fry.
A Graveside Service will be held for Ruth at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Clay City Cemetery.
Interment will follow the service.
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials can be made to St. Joseph's Indian School in Brule County, South Dakota.
