Obituary for Max D. Hocking

Max D. Hocking, 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Max was born on April 9, 1929 in Edwards Co., Illinois, the son of Cleo and Martha Ellen (Judge) Hocking.  He married Margaret A. (Eagleson) on April 10, 1949 in Henderson, KY and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2003.

Max was a hardworking, generous, and respected businessman of this community. He was a master of many trades. Max's curiosity led to success in many endeavors. Max loved his family and friends and enjoyed sharing stories. He always had a smile and a helping hand for others. He will be greatly missed.

Max is survived by his Son, Doug (Mary) Hocking of Debary, FL; Daughter, Margaret J. (Bill) Davison of Shelbyville, IL; Special friend, Herma Dyckus of Olney; Grandchildren, Allison (Ross) Etheridge, Phillip (Lisa) Hocking, Lacy Opp, and Megan Anne (Robert) Steed; Great grandchildren, Lily Etheridge, Max Etheridge, and Isaac Opp; Brother, Bob (Nancy) Hocking; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens.
