Obituary for Catherine Ann Steber

Catherine Ann Steber, 54, of Olney, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  She was born on April 29, 1964 in Tallahassee, FL, the daughter of Carl Eugene and Judy (Garrettson) Brewer.  She married Donald Steber on June 17, 1989 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  He survives her.

Cathy was a rare, very devoted, loving, compassionate, humble and most kind human God could have ever created. She was not without sin and often spoke of how she could be a better person. We can only strive to get to where she was an and individual and in her closeness to the Lord. Her family and friends were her world which showed in all her actions. She always put all others above her own needs throughout her entire life. Cathy loved to travel and looked forward to going to NY and LA to see the boys (as she referred to Mitch and Caleb). This drive kept her going health-wise for the last several years.

Her greatest of pleasures were spent at grandchildren’s ball games, school programs, or anything involving where she would get to spend time with them. Her daughters also held a special place in her heart as she talked of them constantly and reveled in every moment she spent with them. She will be sadly missed by every life this woman has touched but most of all by her husband, children, and grandchildren, of which she has spent the past 32 years building the family of which she dreamt of.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Donald Steber; Daughter, Roni LeAnn Lambird of Olney, IL; Daughter, Nichole Leigh Steber of West Salem, IL; Son, Mitchell Jordan Steber of Manhattan, NY; Son, Caleb Andrew Steber of Los Angeles, CA; Mother, Judy Brewer of Olney, IL; Mother-in-law and Step Father-in-law, Marjorie Steber-Pool and Stanley; Twin Brother, Charles (Michelle) Brewer of Calhoun; Sister, Tina Jo (Jesse) Henry of Olney, IL; Brother, John (Leslie) Brewer of Monroe City, IN; Brother, Russell (Terri) Brewer of Newton, IL; Grandchildren, Aubrey, Asher and Andrew Lambird, Elijah and Bryton Steber, and Brianna Swartzbaugh; Sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Steber and Brian Mason, Ellen Bollman, Stephanie (Darrin) Kuhl, and Stacy (Mark) Herman; Brothers-in-law, John Steber and Kema Davis, Tom (Jill) Steber, Tony (Stacey) Steber, Phillip (Suzi) Steber, and Brett (Jodi) Steber.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Grandchild, Samuel Swartzbaugh, Father-in-law, Donald Steber, Sr., and Sisters-in-law, Julia Thomas and Rebecca Steber.

Memorials can be made to either the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, 1820 W. Webster Avenue, Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60614, or to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 801 Roeder Road, Suite 100, Silver Springs, MD 20910.
